A judge has warned a 19-year-old he faces being locked up after he pleaded guilty to causing the death of a teenager by dangerous driving following a two-car smash in Bradford city centre more than 18 months ago.
Shoheb Majid of Canterbury Avenue, Canterbury, Bradford, was yesterday told by Judge Jonathan Rose: “Offences of this sort almost inevitably result in a prison sentence.”
Majid pleaded guilty on the day he was set to stand trial to causing the death of Mohammed Sohail, 17, by dangerous driving on roads around the centre of Bradford, including the Shipley/Airedale Road, Hall Ings and Sunbridge Road.
Mr Sohail, of Harrogate Terrace, Undercliffe, Bradford, died of his injuries on June 21 last year.
He was driving a Volkswagen Golf that was involved in an accident with a Toyota Auris at the junction of Sunbridge Road and Akam Road, shortly before midnight, on June 2, 2010.
Judge Rose extended Majid’s bail until he is sentenced in the week beginning March 5. The case was adjourned for the preparation of a full report from the probation service.
Judge Rose banned Majid from driving from yesterday.
