A 27-year-old man has died after his motorcycle crashed into a parked car.

The man had been riding along Birkenshaw Lane, Birkenshaw, Bradford, when the accident occurred at about 5.45pm on Saturday.

A police spokesman said the Suzuki had ploughed through a garden fence after the collision due to the force of the impact.

The man was treated at the scene before being flown by Yorkshire Air Ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police were not naming him until relatives have been informed but he was named locally as John Newsome.

Flowers and cards were laid at the scene of the crash by friends and neighbours of Mr Newsome, who lived in a house close to where the accident happened.

His friend Craig Walters, who lived with him, said: “He was a great guy. You wouldn’t meet a nicer lad. He was a popular guy, everybody knew him. I’ve known him all my life.”

A neighbour, who did not want to be named, said: “He will be sadly missed. He was a really good lad. I saw him on the bike before he crashed. I came down to try to help.”

Another neighbour said: “He had a heart of gold. He got on with everybody.”

Part of a garden wall and fence by the pavement was damaged in the crash and adjoining fencing dividing two properties had also collapsed.
