A girl will switch on Birkenshaw’s festive lights after she won the village association’s poster contest.
Eliza Duckworth, nine, was judged to be the winner of the competition which saw entries from Birkenshaw First and Nursery School’s six classes.
Local artist Eric Humphrey also picked out Molly Thompson, seven, Millie Cockcroft Smith, five, Lois Newby, five, Alfi Clacy-Cheung, five, and Daisy Burton, four, as other winners.
Christmas celebrations will start on Sunday, November 30, at 2pm with the switch-on at 4.30pm. A selection of stalls in the Scout hut and mince pies and beverages in the community hall will be available.
