Police are urging homeowners to check their locks after burglars broke into a Birkenshaw home.

At 2pm on November 23, burglars snapped a Euro Profile lock on the back door of a terraced house in Bradford Road.

They ransacked the house and stole a set of car keys. They left without stealing any vehicle.

Batley Birstall and Birkenshaw Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) co-ordinator Martyn Lee said breaking Euro Profile locks was one of the most common tricks used by burglars.

He said: “If anyone is in need of a free home security survey, officers from the NPT will gladly attend and oblige.”
