A group of young people in a community project in Bradford are busy learning how to cook this week with a little bit of help from Jamie Oliver’s Ministry of Food.

The ten-strong class (pictured), aged between 12 and 17, are part of The Cube Community Centre, Bank-foot, and were taking part in a pilot scheme.

Ian Brewer, a community development worker for the Bankfoot Partnership, organised sessions with the help of funding from Bradford Council’s Small Money Big Change programme. This week the group have been spending time at the city centre home of TV chef Mr Oliver’s Ministry of Food. Centre manager Soraya Overend and her team have been helping the teenagers get to grips with simple recipes.

Mrs Overend said: “It’s going really well, they seemed really interested in what they were learning.”

People can sign up to a ten-week course at the John Street centre for £4 a session. Call (01274) 435279.
