Allerton cashier fraudster told to pay £5,565

A dishonest Bradford bank worker has been ordered by a Court to hand back more than £5,000 she made from her involvement in fraud.

Minakshi Mahay, 29, of Deanwood Avenue, Allerton, Bradford, a former cashier at the HSBC in Manchester Road, was last year convicted by a jury of conspiracy to defraud and sentenced to a 12-month Intensive Alternative to Custody order with supervision, a curfew and 100 hours' unpaid work.

Yesterday, she returned to Bradford Crown Court for a confiscation hearing under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

Simon Keeley, for the Crown, said the parties had agreed settlement figures.

Mahay conspired to defraud the bank of £11,500 and the amount she could pay back was £5,565. She must pay up in six months or face up to four months in prison.

Mahay, who has a first-class honours degree, was a highly-trusted employee at the HSBC.
