A devoted couple who met ballroom dancing are celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary today.
Donald and Mavis Hooley, of Buttershaw, Bradford, who met at the Ideal dance hall in Bankfoot when they were 14 and 15, were married at St Paul’s Church in Wibsey in 1950.
Mr Hooley, 80, a Bradford Bulls supporter, was conscripted into the RAF, while his wife, 81, worked as a machinist for Northgate Group in Thornton Road.
The couple will celebrate their anniversary at a family party with their three children, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
