A secondary school is making satisfactory progress to address failings identified by inspectors, according to a new report.
An Ofsted team returned to Aire Valley School in Nab Wood, Cottingley, last month for the first time since the school was given a ‘Notice to Improve’ before Christmas.
The findings of the first monitoring visit say that a new leadership team has been formed, and an achievement and progress team has been created.
Achievement in maths was a concern of Ofsted when it put the school in the category. The report says steps have been taken to address that.
There is still variability in the quality of teaching and learning, the report warns, and it is too early to see the impact of all the changes on progress and attainment.
Head teacher Elaine Shoesmith said: “I’m pleased that the letter praises the school for the progress being made which is how we see things at Aire Valley.
“I’m particularly pleased that the inspection team praised the efforts made by the new extended leadership team.”
