A new health centre will open its doors to patients on Monday on a multi-million pound development.

The Eldwick and Gilstead health centre, in Warren Lane, Eldwick, will be the new home of Oak Glen Surgery, a long-established Bingley practice, headed by partners Dr Aziz Hafiz and Dr Sarah Whitfield.

The practice is relocating from Bingley Health Centre in Myrtle Place.

The new purpose-built health centre will enable the practice to provide a full range of NHS GP services, including early morning and evening surgeries, family planning, minor surgery, phlebotomy, physiotherapy and a counselling service.

Baskind pharmacy is already trading on the site. The development will also have a convenience store, which opens on Monday, December 6, and a day nursery, which opens in January.

Jonathan Holmes, of the developers Ernest Wilson’s & Co Ltd, said: “We are in negotiations with a vet and a dentist for the remaining space.”

Oak Glen Surgery and Baskind pharmacy are holding an open day on Saturday, December 4, from 10am to noon. For more information about the surgery contact practice manager Angie Nicholson on (01274) 566617.

A vet in the health centre? Does this mean that if the quacks can't heal the patients they can be shunted next door for the syringe, orange liquid and a long sleep?

I think you will find that if is anything like the Health Centre at Queensbury where they rip off patients with a high price phone number and you still cannot get an appointment that this may not be the boon it first appears to be.
