The Royal British Legion Bingley branch raised a record amount from its Poppy Appeal this year.
“We are extremely grateful for all the help we received,” said branch spokeswoman Judith Hill.
“I would particularly like to mention Mr and Mrs Ansell, from Cottingley, who celebrated their golden wedding on November 11 and, instead of receiving gifts from their guests, asked for donations to the Royal British Legion and presented us with a very generous cheque for £425.”
She added that the town’s remembrance service had a record attendance.
