Five more acts have joined the line-up for the fifth Bingley Music Live festival in September.

As well as Stereo MCs, four local bands have been confirmed and will be taking to the stage at the event, which runs from September 2 to 4.

Stereo MCs rose to fame in the 90s and are best remembered for massive singles like Connected and Step It Up.

On the same bill will be local bands Kingheadlock and State of Error, who have won their slots at the BD1 LiVE Bingley Music Live Beckons competition on Friday.

Kingheadlock are a funky and intelligent band from Haworth, and State of Error are an alternative punk heavy pop band from Halifax.

The grand final saw six bands battle it out at St George’s Hall. More than 60 entered the competition with 18 bands shortlisted to the heats.

Adam Renton, general manager of Bradford Theatres, said: “The BD1 LiVE final was a prime example of the array of talent that is abundant in the local community. It also showcased how much West Yorkshire has to offer the region, and indeed the UK in terms of new, fresh musical talent.

“I wish both bands a long fulfilling career in the music industry and hope to welcome them back to St George’s Hall soon.”

Claiming the two remaining local band slots will be Thirteen16 and Geek, who have been nominated by competition sponsor Factory Street Studios.

Andrew Wood, manager of Bingley Music Live, said: “Both Thirteen16 and Geek have come together through either Rock School or the mentoring programme which are both socially focused artist development programs run by Factory Street Studios.”

Weekend tickets, £35 plus a booking fee, are available from selected outlets across the district or from bingley musiclive.com/tickets.php
