Residents protesting against a proposed 475-homes development on green fields in Bingley have resolved to make their campaign a more visible one.
A full St Aidan’s church hall in Crossflatts heard from Greenhill Action Group on its campaign to prevent land off Sty Lane, Micklethwaite, from being developed.
The group’s chairman Terry Brown said the next step was to get residents surrounding the site to display ‘For Sale’ style signs in their gardens emblazoned with messages of support for the campaign.
After the meeting, Mr Brown said: “We’re going to keep the momentum up by taking a leaf out of the ‘Save Menston Fields’ campaign. Then it’s visible along the roads leading up to it.”
He said new faces turned up to the meeting, including some invited residents of the Oakwood Estate who heard of the potential for their road to be used as an access point for construction traffic.
Mr Brown said he had been informed that representatives of the developers, Redrow Homes (Yorkshire) and Bellway Homes Ltd, would be attending the Crossflatts and Cullingworth Neighbourhood Forum at St Aidan’s church hall on Thursday, December 2 at 2pm.
