A 36-year-old man who died in an accident at a Bradford textiles firm has been named as Mohammed Nasir Hussain.
Mr Hussain is understood to have been a director of Felt Supplies Ltd, where the tragedy occurred at 7.30am on Wednesday.
A Health & Safety Executive investigation was continuing yesterday into the incident, which has now been confirmed to have involved a carding machine, used as part of the felt manufacturing process.
Emergency services were called to the unit on the Wharfedale Business Park, Dudley Hill, after a report that a man was trapped in machinery.
The factory remained closed yesterday.
Workers at nearby businesses meanwhile said Mr Hussain, of Ravens Avenue, Dewsbury, was believed to have owned the company.
According to Companies House records Felt Supplies Ltd is registered to his home address.
An employee of a nearby business, who did not want to be named, told the Telegraph & Argus: “Obviously everyone is in shock about what’s happened, with it being on our doorstep.
“You don’t expect to hear about these things. You hear about them on television, but you don’t expect them to happen close to you.
“All our thoughts go out to the family and friends of the individual.
“I believe he’s the owner.”
Nearby resident George Reaves, 42, of Ashwood Street, said he was doing the washing up after taking his children to school when he saw the police outside his kitchen window on Wednesday morning.
He said: “You don’t expect anything like that really to happen.”
An inquest into Mr Hussain’s death will be held at a future date.
