LATEST: Tributes left to tragic toddler Elliot Procter

A WOMAN charged with the murder of a baby boy has appeared at Bradford & Keighley Magistrates Court today.

During this morning's brief hearing, an appeal was made for anyone with video footage relating to the incident to come forward.

Gemma Procter, 23, of Newcastle House, Barkerend, appeared before magistrates during an eight-minute hearing, charged over the death of the 18-month-old boy.

She was arrested after the baby, named by police as Elliot Procter, fell to his death from a sixth-floor flat window at the block of flats at about 5.10pm on Saturday.

Emergency services attended the scene, but Elliot died from his injuries. Residents at the flats also tried to save the baby after the fall.

District judge Michael Fanning remanded Procter back into custody to appear before Bradford Crown Court on Wednesday.

Wearing a grey sweater and grey jogging bottoms, a visibly distressed Procter spoke to confirm her name and date of birth.

She also said 'I love you' to family members in the public gallery.

Procter's solicitor Sajad Chaudhury has made an appeal for anyone who witnessed the incident or saw anything in the days leading up to it to contact the police.

The charge is that, on October 21 at Bradford, she murdered Elliot Procter.

Mr Chaudhury said it was a "horrific and traumatic incident for all involved" and added that her family were in court to support her.

"This is a defendant who denies a charge of murder," said Mr Chaudhury.

He added: "If anyone has any CCTV or video footage on their phones that may be relevant to anything on the sixth floor and the floor below, could they come forward."

We have opened an online book of condolence for readers to leave their tributes to Elliot using the form below. Please note that all contributions will be moderated by staff before publication and bear in mind that, as there is an active criminal investigation, no speculation around the circumstances of Elliot's death will be tolerated.
