Three employers have been ordered to pay extra money to staff for failing to pay a minimum wage following a Government investigation.

More than 13,000 low paid workers across the country will be handed around £2 million in back pay after the probe found firms not offering National Minimum Wage or a Living Wage.

The review identified 233 employers from across the UK who had deprived staff of a full wage.

In the Bradford district, Emma’s Angels Day Nursery Limited, based in Town Street, Rawdon, failed to pay £4,178.89 to five of its workers.

Samantha Barber and Emma Owen, trading as Laugh and Learn Day Nursery, based in Thomas Street, Heckmondwike, failed to pay £2,154.68 to two of its workers.

Ambrozja Ltd, a Polish restaurant in Sunbridge Road, Bradford, failed to pay £1,303.71 to two workers.

No representatives from either Emma’s Day Nursery Ltd or Laugh and Learn Day Nursery were available to comment when contacted by the Telegraph & Argus.

Meanwhile, Kate Skaczkowska, an employee of Ambrozja Ltd, said the restaurant had no knowledge of the findings of the Government investigation.

Business Minister Margot James said: “It is against the law to pay workers less than legal minimum wage rates, short-changing ordinary working people and undercutting honest employers.

“This naming round identifies a record £2m of back pay for workers and sends the clear message to employers that the Government will come down on those who break the law.”

The Government has fined 1,200 employers around £4m and forced them to pay out £6m to staff since 2013.
