About 7,000 tyres were destroyed by a blaze at a factory in Baildon.
Fire crews were called to the Tyre Station, in Hollins Hill, Baildon, at about 11.30pm last night.
The road is expected to remain closed throughout today as emergency services remain at the scene.
Firefighters said when they arrived there were reports of loud bangs.
About a third of the building was saved, along with two classic cars, they said.
Shipley watch commander Philip Brown said: “We were aware of the building and of a high fire loading – meaning it was stacked full of tyres so it was basically full of fuel.
“We were also aware of some acetylene and LPG cylinders within the building, so had to secure adequate water supplies before making entry.”
Crews from Shipley, Rawdon, Idle and Bingley attended the scene.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
