Police are hunting a man who tried to snatch a woman’s handbag while she was on a train stopped at Shipley station.
The 40-year-old victim was on the 6.50pm Leeds to Skipton service which was stationary on platform 2 at Shipley when the man grabbed her bag.
Detective Constable Jason Ridgeway, of British Transport Police, said: “Despite being taken by surprise the victim clung on to her bag and the would-be robber was forced to flee empty-handed.
“He was last seen running across the tracks and exited the station on platform 2.”
The suspect is described as white, of medium build, aged 20 to 30, scruffy in appearance, with dark hair and was wearing a black coat.
