Saltaire was awash with red, white and blue today as the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh visited the world heritage site as part of their Diamond Jubilee tour of the nation.

Large crowds gathered in Victoria Road to catch a glimpse of the royal couple as they arrived for lunch at technology company Pace.

Melanie Harley, of Keighley, who was among the onlookers, had arrived at 8am.

She said: “I love the Queen. I absolutely love her. She’s amazing. She’s the hardest working person in the whole country.”

Children from Glenaire Primary School wearing crowns made for the occasion were also among the crowd.

Hundreds of people gathered outside Pace plc today to welcome the Queen, who was in Saltaire as part of her Diamond Jubilee tour of the nation.
Her Majesty and the Duke of Edinburgh were guests of technology company Pace where they are currently having lunch.
Crowds including flag-waving children have been waiting outside the company since 8am this morning to catch a glimpse of the Queen. One onlooker said: “She has just arrived, she’s wearing a cream suit. She looks very happy to be here, thankfully the weather stayed fine.”

Crowds were gathering in Saltaire in preparation for the Queen's visit today.

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh are due to be guests of technology firm Pace as part of their Diamond Jubilee tour.

The royal couple had earlier watched local acts perform in the 13,500-capacity Leeds Arena, which is due to be completed next year.
 

The Queen, who was wearing a Karl Ludwig dress and coat in beige and cream tweed with a matching hat by Angela Kelly, was treated to an aerial acrobatic display and musical performances by local schoolchildren.
The visit was part of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee tour which yesterday saw her visit Tyneside, Teesside and Durham.

Nice on her maj to call r'arnd pity nobody took her darn't tat Hole int city senta to see what Bratfuds really like.

Bet a few heads would have rolled if she saw whats really going on in what was once one of flagship cities in the land !.

I have to say what an honour it was to see the queen, she drove past where I work on to Saltaire and everyone was happy to see her, sadly it was a very brief glimpse but we caught her on the way back from Saltaire aswell. It made my day.
