Burning tent threatens drivers

Firefighters had to tackle a burning tent next to the Bingley bypass putting motorists lives at danger because of the smoke.
A crew from Fairweather Green was called to the area on an embankment at about 9.15pm on Friday. The tent had been empty.
A fire service spokesman said: “We had to deal with it as quickly as we could to stop more smoke getting onto the road and to keep our crew safe from traffic. We’re not sure who the tent belonged to, someone who intended to sleep out or just children who’d been mucking about.
"Potentially it could have been very serious because of its location right next to such a busy road.”
