Indie rockers Editors have been announced as the Sunday headline act for this year’s Bingley Music Live festival.
The Brit award-nominated band, who have been compared to Echo and the Bunnymen and Joy Division, are currently regarded as one of the biggest British acts. Editors are expected to perform tracks from their forthcoming third album, In This Light And On This Evening, due in September.
The band is the latest big name to be announced for the festival in Bingley’s Myrtle Park – billed as one of the UK’s most affordable festivals.
Last week the Telegraph & Argus reported Doves are to headline the Saturday night slot.
And veterans The Undertones will headline a free show at the festival’s opening night on the Friday.
The band will be supported by Toploader and Bradford U2 tribute band New 2.
Other acts playing over the weekend include The Zutons, Calvin Harris, White Belt Yellow Tag, The Futureheads, VV Brown, Howling Bells, Detroit Social Club and The Sunshine Underground.
This weekend four local bands will battle it out for the chance to perform at the festival, and four more will compete next weekend.
Two bands from the final will perform for the festival crowds. The competing bands are The Little Black Hearts, Spike Island, Vandal Supreme, Meet Me In Vegas, Just Defy, Disco Machine Gun, Black Feathered Feet and Analog Bombs.
The finals will be held at Shipley’s PM bar on Sunday and the following Sunday, July 12.
Bingley Music Live is in Myrtle Park on September 4, 5 and 6.
Weekend tickets, priced at £25 plus booking fee, are available online at seetickets.com or 0871 2300010.
Tickets are also available from the Alhambra, St George’s Hall, Bingley Council Shop and Keighley and Shipley Town Halls.
