AN AIREBOROUGH charity that helps young people with disabilities has received a £7,389 funding boost.

The money will enable Aireborough Supported Activities Scheme (ASAS) to arrange a variety of fun experiences including swimming, music, bowling, crafts and dance.

It has been awarded through a Wellbeing grant from Leeds City Council's Outer North West Community Committee.

The area's three ward Councillors (all Con, Guiseley & Rawdon) all supported the move.

Cllr Graham Latty said: "This funding will enable children and young people to take part in a range of activities that otherwise they may not be able to do.

"ASAS does a great job and I was pleased to back this funding application."

Cllr Pat Latty said: "Being a child friendly city means we must do all we can to help all children in our city.

"I’m delighted to be able support community initiatives like this."

Cllr Paul Wadsworth added: "Groups like ASAS do exceptional work supporting some of the most vulnerable children in our communities.

"I’m pleased that I can help and assist with their funding through this Wellbeing grant."

ASAS provides weekend residential breaks, playschemes and a range of activities for children aged between five and 19 who have additional needs.
