WORK to demolish a Shipley pub will begin in June.
Earlier this month it was revealed that Bradford Council had purchased The Branch Hotel on Bradford Road, which has been shut for a number of years.
The Council announced that it planned to demolish the building as part of £42 million road improvement project involving Bradford Road and Canal Road, funded by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority.
Now the council has submitted a demolition notice for the building, revealing that works to pull the pub down are scheduled to start in June.
Once demolished, the empty site will be used to widen the road and improve the junction.
One person has so far objected to the demolition. The objector, who did not give a name or address, described the pub as a “historical landmark” and demanded the council re-open it as a pub.
