THE Labour Party has revealed the next candidate they hope will unseat Shipley MP Philip Davies at the next General Election.
Jo Pike has been selected as Labour’s parliamentary candidate for the constituency at the next general election.
Mrs Pike (pictured) lives in the constituency and is a lecturer in childhood and education at Leeds Beckett University. She has been involved in cross-party work in Parliament on school meals and child hunger.
Speaking after her selection, she said: “Shipley is my home and it is an honour to be selected by local Labour party members in my home town.
“Shipley is really suffering from the cuts that the Tory Government have imposed. Our schools are stretched to the limit, our NHS and adult social care are in crisis, and Bradford Council is being forced to make crippling cuts to services.
“The people of Shipley deserve an MP who will protect their jobs and services and fight for a fair deal in Parliament. That can only happen with a Labour MP and a Labour Government.”
