A MAN has been arrested for assaulting a police officer during an operation to tackle untaxed and uninsured cars.
Four vehicles were seized during the joint operation between the DVLA and West Yorkshire Police, which took place in Windhill yesterday.
Two arrests were made during the day - one for an assault on an officer and another for obstructing a constable in the execution of their duty.
A 23-year-old man from Bradford was charged with assault of a PC and two counts of resisting arrest.
A 49-year-old man from Pudsey was charged with two counts of obstructing a PC.
A police spokesman said: “There were some question marks as to the necessity of police presence but they were negated after behaviour of owners and associates.
“If your vehicle is not taxed and insured it has no place on a public road.”
Officers said the DVLA would be returning to the area for similar operations in the coming weeks.
