PLANS for a housing development on a Baildon builder’s yard have been refused.
William Ellis had submitted the application for six terraced houses built on the back of 33 Westgate. The development would have also see an existing first floor office on the site turned into a flat.
The houses would have been a mix of one bed and two bed, and the development plans included 11 parking spaces.
Planning officers refused the application last week, saying access to the proposed development failed to meet standards, and that there was poor visibility leaving the site.
They said the housing “Would be likely to lead to an intensification of use of a substandard access with insufficient width, no drainage, street lighting or turning head and poor visibility at its junction with the highway, likely to lead to conditions prejudicial to highway safety.”
