A HAIRDRESSER has raised £3,165 for Manorlands hospice in a single day.

The fundraising event at the Villager pub in Wilsden was organised by Rebecca Jess from Sharp Cuts hair salon with the help of her friend Joanne Dawson after she learned of a recent illness within the family and wanted to support the Oxenhope hospice.

Rebecca raised £1,600 before the event through ticket sales and two bonus ball boards for hotel prizes.

During the day there was an auction, bottle tombola, bouncy castle, games, face painting, plus a raffle with more than 100 prizes donated by local businesses.

Bradford City mascot Billy Bantam made an appearance, and in the evening band The Good Citizens kept everyone entertained.

Rebecca said: "I'd like to say thank you to everyone involved in making my Manorlands fundraiser such an amazing success, in particular Joanne Dawson who was a huge help, especially in sourcing all the amazing raffle prizes."

Sue Ryder community fundraiser Harriet Wood praised Rebecca's "amazing achievement".

She said: “To raise more than £3,000 in just a day is not easy and requires a lot of planning and organising.

“We really appreciate the fact that Rebecca and the team behind it dedicated so much time and energy to the event and also to Manorlands.

“This money is crucial to us delivering care and we send out a huge thank you to anyone that attended the event – we simply can’t do it without you.”
