A MAN has been taken to hospital this morning after his car crashed into a building in Keighley town centre.

The man, in his 60s, had been trying to jump start his vehicle, a Citroen Berlingo, which was parked on Highfield Street.

Just after 9.07am fire crews from Keighley and Bingley stations were called to the road, a short distance from Keighley Library, after reports of a single vehicle crash.

The fire crew in attendance told the Telegraph & Argus that the man had apparently been trying to jump start the car, when it "ran away from him."

He chased the vehicle and managed to get back inside, but was then unable to control it.

The car hit a building and rainwater pipe before travelling further and hitting another wall, which was demolished in the impact.

The man suffered bruising to his chest and leg. The car was written off.
