A BAR has lodged an appeal after being refused retrospective planning permission for structures in its beer garden.
The Potting Shed, in Main Street, Bingley, had applied for permission retrospectively for a pergola, six sheds, a bin store and a barbecue shelter.
But ten objections were lodged, including one from MP Philip Davies. Many said the outside facilities meant the beer garden could be used for longer and into the winter months, causing disturbance to neighbours.
Refusing the application in December, planners said the pergola, sheds and shelter “contributed to increased noise, overlooking, anti-social behaviour and light nuisance for the neighbouring residents”, while the structures comprised “clutter” which did not fit the character of the area.
Now the business has lodged an appeal, saying the development would have “significant benefits” for the area, such as securing jobs and investment.
