HOMES in a Haworth road where motorists have been parking on the pavement could be leafleted to warn vehicle owners not to obstruct pedestrians' right of way.

The problem, which has been reported in Hebden Road, was raised at a recent meeting of Haworth, Cross Roads and Stanbury Parish Council.

Council chairman Cllr Gary Swallow said a member of the public had complained, telling him he was being forced to step out onto the road each time he walks to the shop.

Cllr Swallow said leafleting this area could help encourage drivers to think of pedestrians' safety and park more considerately.

Police community support officer Helen Wynn-Evans said a more robust approach might be needed if the leafleting is not effective.

Worth Valley Ward councillor Rebecca Poulsen noted that the obstruction problem was worst at the Cross Roads end of Hebden Road, where the cobbled pavement is already very narrow.

The Keighley News previously reported a separate complaint from a local resident last December about cars parking on the pavement in this same road.
