CHARITY staff have been clickety-clicking for a worthy cause.
Around 15 staff at Macmillan Cancer Support’s Shipley base have spent a year knitting 400 squares for eight blankets which they are now donating to the Salvation Army Day Shelter and Orchard Hostel – charities that support the homeless.
Diana Wilford, a welfare rights adviser with the charity and one of the knitters, said they had invited people to sponsor a square for £1 and have an initial of their choice stitched on to it.
The organisations Ysustain and Bradnet also showed their support by sponsoring 50 squares, helping to raise more than £400 for Macmillan.
“I have been knitting for England but we are on the frontline of people affected by cancer and your hear the stories and the hardship and it motivates you because you want to help,” said Diana.
