A MAN has died after being hit by a train in Baildon this morning.

The incident happened near Baildon Station at around 6.30am, and has led to trains being cancelled or delayed.

Police are now working to find out the identity of the man, but say the incident is not being treated as suspicious.

A statement from British Transport Police said: "Just after 6.30am today we were called to Baildon station by West Yorkshire following reports that a person was struck by a train.

"Officers attended alongside paramedics from the Yorkshire Ambulance Service however a man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene. Officers are working to identify the man and inform his family. 

"This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

Replacement bus services were provided Northern Rail lines between Shipley and Guiseley while police dealt with the incident.

Trains are now running normally.
