KEIGHLEY' fire engine was alerted to two suspected arson attacks in a six-hour period.
Firefighters were first called to Malsis Road, in Knowle Park, at 10pm yesterday to extinguish a burning Mitsubishi Shogun vehicle.
Crew commander David Knox said that as the fire had been spotted early, the damage to the parked vehicle was relatively minor.
"The front bumper was melted off and a rear light was melted.
"It was mainly external damage.
"Someone had been trying to put the flames out with buckets of water before we arrived."
Crew commander Knox said the Keighley firefighters were called out again at 4am today to Barlow Road, in Highfield, to deal with a burning Vauxhall Astra.
"This was much more severely damaged," he said. "The fire was under the bonnet and also at the back of the car.
"The owners of the two vehicles were present on both occasions so we left them to contact the police.
"The cause of both fires is suspicious and under investigation."
