A PUB made famous by TV soap Emmerdale has won a regional community award.

The Woolpack, in Main Street, Esholt, Shipley, has been named winner in the Enterprise Community Heroes Award.

The scheme celebrates the vital role publicans and their pubs play in enhancing the lives of people.

James Downey, publican at The Woolpack, has worked hard to make the pub appealing to both villagers and tourists visiting due to its involvement with the popular itv soap opera.

The pub hosts fundraising events for charities, regular competitions and other community schemes.

It was used as the exterior of Emmerdale’s pub for more than 20 years and tourists continue to visit.

Three pubs from each of the 18 Enterprise regions were selected for the final.

Regional winners received £3,000 prize money with the overall winning pub, Cleveland Bay in Redcar, North Yorkshire, awarded the top prize of £6,000.
