CHILDREN attending theatre sessions in Saltaire over the summer holidays have performed songs from some of the most popular musicals of the past few decades.

Thirty five children, aged between six and 13, attended the summer youth theatre, which was held at at Saltaire Primary School.

During the sessions they learned songs from musicals like Mary Poppins and Annie, and creating their own sets for the eventual performance.

After a week of rehearsing, the children brought A Night at the Musicals to the stage at the Octagon Club in Sandbeds, Keighley, performing in front of a crowd of proud parents and families.

It is the first time the theatre school has been held in Saltaire and it proved a big success with the children and their families who supported the final show by turning up in numbers, according to Emily Walton, who organised the theatre group.

She said: “It was a really good event.

"About 150 people turned up to watch, and we got such good feedback. It was an amazing show.”
