A TEENAGER who sped away from the police in a stolen BMW has been given a suspended custodial sentence.
Tristan Wilson, 19, went double the 30mph speed limit in a car taken in a burglary in Burley-in-Wharfedale the previous day, Bradford Crown Court was told today.
Wilson, of Coniston Grove, Baildon, pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicle taking on August 20 last year.
The court heard he was spotted by the police on Festival Avenue, Shipley, and sped off when ordered to stop.
After a short pursuit, he abandoned the vehicle on Greenfield Avenue and was arrested nearby.
Wilson was sentenced to 12 months custody, suspended for two years, with 150 hours of unpaid work and an activity requirement with the probation service.
He was banned from driving for 12 months.
