A FOOTBALL tournament organised by a husband whose wife lost their baby during pregnancy has raised £3,000 for charity.

Elliott Horan, 27, is raising money for the stillbirth and neonatal death charity SANDS after heartbreak struck him and his wife Lucy, 23, in January this year when she was 12 weeks pregnant.

The seven-a-side football tournament, named the Bingley Charity Cup, was held at Beckfoot School, Wagon Lane, on Saturday and featured 160 players, with a further few hundreds people watching.

The couple’s tragedy happened when Mr Horan was organising an 11-a-side football match which raised more than £2,000 for the Bradford Burns Unit, the Bradford City Foundation and the Yorkshire Children’s Trust.

But Mr Horan, of Sycamore Avenue, Bingley, also revealed Lucy is pregnant and is due in November this year. He said: “It is pretty mindblowing how much we have raised.

“People were putting huge amounts into the bucket collections.

“We are looking to hold a two-day event next year.”
