A MAN has been arrested in connection with an attack in Bingley that left a man in hospital with serious head injuries.
Police said a 24-year-old man from Keighley had been arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent.
It is believed the injured man, who is 58, hit his head on the road after being punched following an argument.
Police were called to Myrtle Place at 11.50pm on Wednesday to a report of an assault.
The injured man, who is from Bingley, is being treated at Leeds General Infirmary where police said he is in a stable condition today.
Sadie Graves runs the Loft cafe on Main Street, Bingley directly opposite where the late night incident took place.
"This is a shocking thing to have happened right in the town centre," she said.
"I don't know any details, but you don't expect to see a police cordon when you come into work.
"I just hope the poor bloke is okay and that the police get whoever is responsible."
Any witnesses are asked to contact police on 101.
