TRAIN services between Bradford Forster Square and Ilkley will stay cancelled for the rest of today and all o ftomorrow because of a landslip at Baildon caused by flash flooding.

A Northern Rail spokesman said: "We are working closely with our colleagues at Network Rail to keep the disruption down to a minimum and return services to normal as soon as we can."

Replacement buses will run between Shipley and Guiseley calling at Baildon until further notice.

Customers wanting to travel to Ilkley from Bradford Forster Square are advised to travel by train to Shipley where a bus will take them on to Guiseley to connect with forward train services.

"We are very sorry for the delay and inconvenience this will cause to your journey," added the spokesman.

There was also water on the A6038 earlier affecting parts of Shipley and Baildon.

Readers took to Facebook after being caught in the downpours.

Dean Raper, from Bradford, wrote: "Rode to Boston, done a long shift, rode back 250 miles approx, glorious day's riding until the last 1 mile from Shipley. The heavens opened with baseball-size rain drops and hail. Roads like rivers; me looking worse than a drowned rat."

Firefighters from Shipley were called to Airedale Terrace in Baildon after homeowners panicked at water coming over their doorsteps.

"By the time we got there the water had turned back and drained away. It was just that a lot came down in a very short time," said a fire service spokesman.
