CELEBRATION pints have been pulled at the grand re-opening of a well-known local pub following a £350,000 investment which has created ten new jobs.

Shipley MP Philip Davies, joined the team at The Bold Privateer on Wrose Road, Wrose to toast the success of the major facelift carried out by national pub operator Punch.

Built in the 1930s, The Bold Privateer was named after George, the third Earl of Cumberland, who owned Wrose village in the 16th Century.

The investment, which took five weeks to complete, has transformed the pub into a modern meeting place.

The interior has been updated with new flooring, fixtures and fittings together with soft furnishings. Externally, the pub has improved lighting, new signs together with new garden furniture, landscaping and planters.

Local couple Helen and Paul Loat have taken the helm and both know the area well and have strong experience in running pubs and clubs.

Mrs Loat said: "We could see the potential to transform the Bold Privateer into a fantastic and welcoming community pub and we’re delighted to be given the opportunity to work with Punch on this major investment.

"We want to become the first choice venue locally for sports and live music events and have a great entertainment programme lined up.”

Commenting on the scale and success of the investment, Mr Davies said: "It’s fantastic to see this great local pub restored to its rightful place at the heart of the community and I was happy to raise a glass to its future success.

"I hope locals and visitors also enjoy the warm hospitality I received at the Bold Privateer."

Aimee Moss, Punch’s openings manager said: "Our main priority was to restore the Bold Privateer to its rightful place at the heart of the community, with a clear focus on delivering a great pub experience for local people.

"We’re confident that our customers will be delighted with the refurbishment, it’s still a true local pub with a regular calendar of events to bring the community together.

"It’s been great to work with Helen and Paul on this investment. The fact that they know the area and the community well has been invaluable in shaping our plans for the pub. We’re looking forward to continuing to support the team as they build on the launch and develop their plans for the future,” she said.
