PHOTOGRAPHERS at a learning disability group are celebrating a £713 grant used to buy new equipment.

Yorkshire Building Society's Charitable Foundation gave the money to Why Don’t We, a project based at the Cottingley Cornerstone Community Centre in Bingley used it to buy a new state-of-the-art Nikon Speed Light flash and a monitor which attaches to cameras to help people with limited vision see their shots more clearly.

They have also bought a voice recorder and a microphone which will allow them to interview people and add commentary to their photographs.

Tony O’Connell, Why Don’t We co-ordinator said: “This equipment is brilliant. It is a simple but effective way to ensure that everyone we support can participate and it has helped us to broaden our scope by adding sound to our images. Our group wants to say a big thank you."

Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation is funded through the Small Change Big Difference scheme where members donate the pennies from the interest on their accounts just once a year to help smaller charities and good causes around the UK.
