MP PHILIP Davies has accused the Government of turning women's prisons into "holiday camps".
Infamous Holloway Prison will close in the summer which Government claims will “signal a new beginning” in how women prisoners are treated.
The Shipley MP claimed men and women were not being treated equally by the judiciary.
Mr Davies said: “Instead of turning women’s prisons into some kind of holiday camp, can the minister instead, given such she is normally such a great champion for equality, make sure if a woman commits an offence she is treated the same way as a man and that female prisoners are treated the same way as male prisoners.
"We still have the case that for every single category of offence, a man is more likely to be sent to prison than a woman," he said.
Prisons Minister Caroline Dinenage said sentencing was a matter for the judiciary.
She added: "At the moment female prisoners are much more likely to suffer lots of complex issues and needs and are far less likely to gain employment once they leave prison. That is something I am seeking to tackle."
