AN UGLY mound of old mattresses, broken furniture and garden waste has been dumped on the second tee of Baildon Golf Course.

Baildon town council vice-chairman Councillor John Turner spotted the huge pile of rubbish while dog walking on Saturday morning.

"It's at the access point for trolleys on the second tee, about 500 yards from the road near a small quarry.

"Somebody has taken the trouble to drive a tipper or lorry and dump five mattresses, broken chairs tables and garden waste.

"We are all trying to make Baildon an attractive place to visit and then something like this make the moor look ugly and awful.

"We don't need an instant eyesore made of tons of rubbish.

"Tipping like this is happening more often than it used to, especially in car parks," Cllr Turner said.

David Halford, a senior member at Baildon Golf Club, said: "Everyone wants a moor we can all be proud of and we're all very distressed about this."

Bradford Council has been made aware of the fly-tipping.
