DETECTIVES hunting a knife-wielding man who tried to rob a bank in Shipley have released CCTV images of someone they want to speak to in connection with the incident.

The man walked into the Santander branch in Market Square and handed over a note demanding money. He also produced a knife.

The cashier told him the safe was locked and he walked out empty-handed, said police.

The incident happened at about 3pm on Thursday, August 27. The suspect was white, between 5ft 3ins and 5ft 5ins tall, and of medium build. He was believed to be in his 20s.

He was wearing glasses, a dark jumper with beige horizontal stripes, a dark blue jacket with white lining inside the hood, a blue and black baseball cap with a white flash on the side, and blue trainers with white flashes.

Detective Constable Ian Walker, of Bradford District CID, said: "We believe the suspect was seen hanging around the town centre in the time leading up to the incident and would ask for anyone who recognises him to contact DC 3544 Walker at Bradford District CID on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, quoting crime reference 13150347173."
