A KINDHEARTED man is urging people to get their trainers on and join him for a charity trek around the district.

Will Denby, 28, is looking to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation after organising his own 14.3-mile walk.

The trek will start at Shipley railway station, Station Road, Shipley, at 8am on Saturday, August 1, and then go to Hollins Hall Marriott Hotel and Country Club, Otley Road.

The group will then go onto St Mary's Catholic High School, Bradford Road, Menston, and Bingley Five-Rise Locks, Beck Lane, Bingley, before returning to Shipley railway station to finish. It is expected to take between four and five hours to complete.

He has already got family and friends, including his mother Sandra Denby, 56, to join him and is now looking for more people to take part.

Mr Denby spotted the #Walk500 campaign on Facebook and decided to stage his own walk.

The #Walk500 miles challenge has been set up by HF Holidays to encourage people to walk at least one mile and raise funds for the British Heart Foundation, up to a total national target of 500 miles.

He has raised more than £400 for the cause so far but would like to recruit more walkers to add to the coffers.

Mr Denby, a furnace operator of Thornacre Road, Wrose, has urged people to join in in his good deed and will be carrying out a collection for the charity during the walk.

He has also set up a Facebook page called West Yorkshire Charity Walkers where he will look to link up with others to hold future fundraising walks.

He said: "I have done some charity work before but wanted to do some more.

"I would like people to join me and enjoy a walk and get outdoors and raise some money for a great cause.

"We have raised around £500 for the charity so far.

"You don't hear about many events taking place for the British Heart Foundation, so I wanted to start one up.

"I'm looking to give something back. There is a lot of bad news in the world but this makes people think that there is still some good in the world.

"I will be looking to do more charity walks in the future too. I thought I would do something good in the world.

"I thought I would start off with something simple with this walk to get more people doing it with me.

"I have done some charity work in the past but would like to do more.

"I'm hoping to get as many people as possible to take part."
