SHIPLEY Glen Tramway had a bumper Spring Bank Holiday with a huge spike in travellers during the long weekend.

"We had nearly a third more visitors than usual - beyond our wildest dreams," said the tramway's Richard Freeman (pictured).

"People just poured in. We think it's because they had seen it on the BBC's Countryfile programme recently and were reminded of what they've been missing."

Over the holiday the tramway, which is celebrating its 120th anniversary this year, took 1,759 travellers and made some £2,000 in takings from tickets and the shop at its historic site.
