VILLAGERS are objecting to controversial plans to build 50 homes at a greenfield site.
Retired Glusburn farmer Harry Ingham is seeking planning permission to build 50 homes on land off Main Street in Sutton-in-Craven, opposite Sutton Cricket Club and Royd Hill Nursing Home.
The outline plans, which have been submitted to Craven District Council, involve the construction of one, two, three and four-bedroom houses, the creation of a footpath and cycleway at the bottom of the site and the retention of land which would be green space between Sutton and Eastburn.
“We’ve done as much as we can by designing a footpath and cycle route, but we can’t go any further than the site so Bradford Met need to do something,” said Michael Widdup, the agent for Mr Ingham.
But objector Neville Kildunne, of Ravenstone Gardens, said: “They’re suggesting leaving a 50-metre green wedge, which hardly separates the two villages.”
