A COMMUNITY arts project in Shipley is to start a scheme aimed at improving mental well-being.

It was announced in August that Hive was granted almost £200,000 from the Big Lottery Fund to start up the Thrive scheme, offering support for people living with mental health illness, aiming to boost self-confidence and wellbeing, and to combat isolation among those taking part in the workshops.

The ten-week courses are free and will include sculpture, 3D collage, pottery and raku firing, felt-making and making wellbeing aromatherapy products.

The launch of the project takes place at Hive, Kirkgate, Shipley, on Friday, February 27, from 12.30pm to 3.30pm.
