NORTH Yorkshire Police has produced a video to promote a new rural crime prevention booklet, launched after a consultation found the public wanted rural crime to be a key priority.

The video features two police officers, who have responsibility for rural crime, giving security advice to a farmer.

The booklet gives advice on security for farmhouses and outbuildings, keeping hedges and gates in good order and protecting vehicles, tools and equipment; provides guidance on ensuring that livestock, horses and dogs are marked; and advice on how wildlife can be protected and what people should do if they find snares and traps or evidence of poaching.

It also contains a directory of useful numbers of agencies people can contact for further advice.
