A MOTORCYCLIST was left with serious head injuries after crashing into an oncoming car on a rural road.
The crash happened on Pole Road, between Keighley and Sutton-in-Craven at 2pm on Friday, and police are now appealing for witnesses to get in touch.
A black Sukida motorcycle with L plates was on the road approximately one mile from its junction with Green Dykes Road, when it hit a black Vauxhall Vectra travelling in the opposite direction.
A 24-year-old local man riding the motorcycle suffered serious head injuries and was taken by air ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary.
Traffic Constable Dave Seavers, of the force's Major Collision Investigation Team, said: "If you witnessed the collision or saw either of the vehicles prior to the incident, I urge you to come forward and contact the police straight away."
Anyone who can assist this enquiry should contact North Yorkshire Police on 101, select option two and ask for the Major Collision Investigation Unit. Alternatively, information can be emailed to MCIT@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk.
