PENSIONERS are expected to benefit from an 'Over 65s Fair' which brings together under one roof key organisations which provide services for those in that age group.

The event has been organised by Shipley MP Philip Davies with the objective of helping people, their carers and families get advice and support, in an informal setting.

Mr Davies said: “Politics for me is not about opinion polls and headlines in papers, it's about making sure that as the local Member of Parliament I keep in touch with my constituents on the issues that matter most to them.

“I receive a large number of requests for advice, information and support every day from Shipley constituents and a large number of these come from older people and their families, relating to every aspect of their lives and that is why I have arranged this event.”

The fair, which is a non-political event, will take place in Victoria Hall, Victoria Road, Saltaire, on Tuesday, October 7, between 10am and 2pm.

Organisations attending include, Bradford Council, Age UK, Bradford and Airedale Clinical Commissioning Group, Airedale NHS Trust, West Yorkshire Police, Bradford Fire Service, National Osteoporosis Society and Gala Bingo, West Yorkshire Trading Standards.

The event is free, and open to any constituent over 65 in Shipley refreshments will be provided and traditional style bingo will be happening throughout the day.

Booking is not necessary but people can confirm their attendance by calling Mr Davies’s office on on 0207 219 8264 or emailing sophie.dean@parliament.uk.
